Volatile Organic Compounds

Volatile organic compounds or solvents are among the most common air pollutants. In the European Union, VOCs are regulated by the IPPC Directive and the VOC Directive. Both require strict control of VOCs in many applications from paint coating to printing shops.

Ekotechnology offers several technologies for VOC abatement and recovery. We can determine if recovery and recycling is appropriate and feasible for your operation utilizing the most modern approaches proven in the EU and US. Where material recovery is not feasible, we can recommend systems to recover the heat from VOC destruction to help save you money.

CMG Liquid Incineration Plant

Ekotechnology offers solvent abatement and recovery systems from CMG and IST, both based in Italy with large international sales and experience. We also offer zeolite concentrators and other specialized technical systems. We can match the right technology to your requirements or recommend alternative approaches to the same problem.

CMG Impianti

Ekotechnology offers the full line of CMG products. CMG Impianti has nearly thirty years experience in the European and international market, providing a wide variety of process technologies asnd equipment:

¨ washing towers, using adsorption for control of S02, NOx, HCL or other pollutants, or for recovering industrially useable compounds;
¨ thermal and catalytic oxidization systems;
¨ air deodorization, utilizing a twin washing columns;
¨ activated carbon systems for capturing solvents;
¨ organic and inorganic recovery, including DMF and plasticizers;
¨ liquid incineration plants, working up to 1200° C completed with heat recovery system and flue gas cleaning section for dry or wet removal acids;
¨ distillation plants, either batch or continuous distillation plants for solvents recovering;
¨ solvent recovery from sludge, especially from paint production sludges;
¨ polyurethane paste plants, including a chips dissolver for polyurethane paste production in synthetic leather industry;
¨ adhesive paste plants, using dissolvers with a capacity from 2000 to 7500 liters;
¨ continuous and batch processing equipment, including complete automated plants for the continuos or batch production of chemical and cosmetic products.

As far as these products are concerned, CMG/ET have particular expertise in the following sectors:
¨ coated or coagulated imitation leather production (recovery of solvents or plasticizer)
¨ adhesive tapes production. C.M.G. is able to supply on a turn-key basis the recovery of solvents (toluene or exane) and the adhesive mass production plant.
¨ the rotogravure and flexographic printing industry (recovery of ethyl acetate)
¨ the chemical and pharmaceutical industry: thermal combustion plants for gaseous and liquid polluted stream.
¨ continuous or batch chemicals production plants (automated).

Italia Sistemi Technologici (IST)

We are also pleased to feature another technology partner, Italia Sistemi Technologici (IST) from Italy, so that we can now provide solvent recovery systems for smaller amounts of solvents, as low as 10 liters on liquid volume in a single pass. It is possible to set up closed loop systems for 200 liters or more a day, which not only meet environmental requirements of the EU, but also can pay for themselves in reduced raw material cost. IST features solvent reclaimers from 10 to 200 liters in capacity along with vacuum generators that can lower the temperature for solvent recapture. You can contact Ekotechnology and obtain a brochure on the equipment designed for your solvent capacity and usage. If you complete the enclosed questionnaire, Ekotechnology can offer you're a price quote and a calculation of the savings in solvent cost and disposal costs that you will experience. Many firms can pay for solvent recycling in a surprisingly short period of time. v Meet EU "Best Available Technique" requirements for IPPC; v Reduce your air emissions in the shop and outside the plant; v Save money on solvent production and disposal costs. v No significant installation costs in most situations.
